We’re Seeking a Part-Time Development and Events Coordinator Print E-mail

Be a part of the Special Love team!


Special Love is looking for a part-time Development and Events Coordinator to assist the Director of Development in managing and coordinating fundraising events for Special Love.  He/she also will help develop and maintain relationships with businesses, individuals, and organizations interested in supporting Special Love’s events and other activities.  The coordinator also will assist with social media for the organization, as well as other projects as necessary to attract funding for Special Love. He/she will report to the Director of Development.


Typical activities: Assist the Director of Development in planning and implementing fundraising events, which includes managing volunteer committees and coordinating volunteers; coordinating event logistics, budgets, and publicity; cultivating sponsorships; managing auction and in-kind donation solicitations; maintaining the event and volunteer database.


The coordinator will maintain event portion of website as well as maintain and broaden social media network to benefit Special Love, including Facebook, Twitter, and blog.   Fundraising events are hosted by Special Love and by outside supporters during the week and on weekends. The Coordinator must be available on the event dates and weeks leading up to each event, offering a flexible schedule of approximately 80 hours/month.


Qualifications: Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in a paid special events and/or media coordination position. Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, social media, and business development programs required.


Education: Graduation from a 4-year college or university required. A 2-year degree with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization, may substitute. Event, communication, and/or public relations experience desirable.
